The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Isaac Butswat has been bestowed with a Confirmation of Credence award by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
The award was conferred on him during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the youth group on Monday, February 7, 2022 at his office, university headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
According to the leader of the 7-man delegation and the Vice-President of the council, Barr. Abdulmalik Alfa, the thrust of the visit was to induct Butswat into the NYCN Hall of Fame as Garkuwan Matasan Arewa/Icon and Cynosure of Educational Transformation in Nigeria.
Presenting the award, Alfa stated that the award was aimed at encouraging and appreciating the DVC for his exemplary service to the fatherland and his commitment to teaching and research in the university system.
“The leadership of the NYC of Nigeria is proud of Prof. and will continue to monitor his contributions to the evolution of modern Nigeria,’’ he added.
In his response, the recipient, while thanking the council for finding him worthy for the award, expressed his deep appreciation. “I am being encouraged to continue what I have been doing well that attracted the attention.
‘’I urge all staff to keep on working as expected with NOUN Condition of Service for one day you might be recognised positively.”
The group has curved a niche for itself in areas of peace-building across the geopolitical zones of Nigeria, advocacy for good governance and effective leadership, as well as the occasional recognition of individuals who are doing well in terms of contribution to the socio-economic development.
