The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has said the university is excited to have a facility as Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) considering the remarkable achievements of the centre.
The VC said this on Friday, 19 November, 2021 while hosting the committee of the African Digital Education Network (ADEN) who were at the university for their inaugural meeting.
Peters, while reminiscing about his time at Ilorin, where he was heading a research centre, mentioned that he is conversant with ACE activities based on his first encounter with the centre at Markurdi,
‘‘We can’t ask for any other thing except collaborations and sharing of ideas to meet up the demands of the sponsors of this project,” he said.
In response, the chairman of the committee, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, who congratulated the VC on his appointment, expressed his profound gratitude and assured him of their unalloyed support to ACETEL.
He added that the project is a result-oriented project with funding envelopes, which requires all centres to meet the demands of the sponsors to earn funds.
‘‘We are working closely with ACETEL to ensure they meet their target, and I hope our activities will impact tremendously to the university and promote higher education in Nigeria and Africa,” Bako said.
ACETEL director, Prof. Grace E. Jokthan, on her part, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and assured them of her commitment towards the actualisation of the project demands.
