The accreditation  exercise of academic programmes in the Nigerian universities being carried out by the National Universities Commission (NUC) every five years is purely to check and ensure that such programmes maintain the required standards, the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Ahmed Amin Njidda, has said.

Njidda said this when he led an 8-man NOUN mock accreditation team on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 to Enugu Study Centre, Enugu State.

The visit was to ascertain the centre's level of preparedness in view of the impending National Universities Commission's (NUC) visit to the centre for accreditation of academic programmes.

‘’Mock accreditation guarantees checks and balances of academic programmes,’’ he said.

The leader of the delegation further commended the centre for its orderliness and proper arrangement of files, saying that "the identified lapses in the centre need to be provided for the success of NUC accreditation exercise slated for October/November 2022."

Njidda applauded the centre's staff for their maximum cooperation given to the team, which culminated in a smooth mock accreditation exercise.

The team was later taken round to inspect and assess the facilities at the centre by the centre director, Prof. Alexander Uche Onyia and his seniorr staff, where it was observed, among others, that the auditorium roofs and e - exam hall windows and doors are in dire need of  repairs.
