Lawmaker sponsors students to study in NOUN

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Badagry II constituency, Hon. (Engr.) Setonji David Samuel has offered a fully-funded scholarships to seven members of his constituency for their studies at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

This was revealed when the McCarthy Study Centre of the university played host to the legislator in an interactive session on Friday March 25, 2022.

The session was specifically to introduce the beneficiaries of the Honorables scholarship scheme to the school’s system.

Samuel, an apostle of free and quality education, has taken it upon himself to sponsor enthusiastic youth who yearn for academic success but have little or no means to pursue their educational dreams.

The beneficiaries of the scholarship expressed their profound joy and appreciation as the member repeatedly emphasised that “an educated mind is a liberated mind.

He enjoined them to open up their minds to acquiring knowledge that is readily available in NOUN, urging them to dream big and aim for greatness.

The beneficiaries are Opa Moses Gbetogo, Peace Studies & Conflict Resolution; Sovohunu Semeton Bolanle, Political Science; Hunga Joshua Nunayon, Mass Communication; Kiss Emmanuel Taseyou, Public Administration; Hunsa Peter Abey, Political Science; David Tatenme Taiwo, Business Administration and David Sesi Victoria, Biology Science.

At the end of the meeting, staff members at the centre which include the Dean, FOS, Prof. Ajibola Saheed, Mrs. Njaji Nneka, Principal Assistant Registrar, Mr. Lasisi Akintayo, Deputy Bursar, Mrs. Makbere A. U., Chief Counselor and Mrs. Moses Abidael, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, presented souvenirs as tokens of appreciation to the esteemed guest.
