The Director, Oka- Akoko Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Babajide Oyadeyi has stated that the university has never been part of the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

He said this on Saturday, September 3, 2022 as the centre embarked on another advocacy mission during the 3rd Edition of the Annual Youth Convocation of the Diocese of Ikare, Anglican Communion, held at the St. Luke's Anglican Church, Irun Akoko.

The director and his team preached the gospel of ODL especially about the uniqueness of the institution and programmes to hundreds of youths that were present at the event.

The youths were elated when the Director said " we are always open, as you can see, NOUN is not on strike.”

Later, the Youth Chaplain thanked the centre director and his team for the enlightenment.

The team earlier in the week paid a sensitisation visit to the staff of the Akoko South-west Local Government Area, Oka, where it presented the NOUN mode of operation and available academic opportunities to the staff of the LGA.

The Head of the Local Government Administration, Mr. Juba thanked the team for what he described as a timely visit.
