NTA chief solicits for closer working ties with Calabar Study Centre

The General Manager, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Calabar, Mr. Sam Olorinde, has visited Calabar Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), where he solicited for a closer working ties between the two organisations.

Olorinde, who visited the centre on Friday, 21 January 2022, was accompanied by the Marketing Manager of the media outfit, Mr. Cyril Abuwa, and they were received by the centre director, Prof. Onyeka Iwuchukwu, in her office.

Iwuchukwu, while welcoming the visitors, advocated for a continuation of the partnership which the centre initiated with the media house during the tenure of the former director of NTA, Mr. Ezekwugo.

She presented a brief history of NOUN from inception to date, citing possible areas of collaboration like media coverage of the activities of the study centre and invitation of the management of the centre to talk shows.

the director explained to her visitors that one of her priorities in Calabar was to increase students enrollment through massive publicity and advocacy in the municipality.

Iwuchukwu insisted that she would leave the centre better than she met it in terms of infrastructure and service delivery, adding that the progressive changes she is driving were obvious.

Responding, Olorinde  said his visit was to familiarise himself with the centre and solicit for a closer working relationship with the management of the centre.

According to him, publicity is required to project the centre's presence and activities, while affirming that NTA is for everyone.

He highlighted the power of the media and suggested the use of  YouTube and a link  to promote the activities of NOUN, especially in Calabar.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to work together towards achieving the desired objectives.

The NTA team was later taken round the centre on a facility tour after which the centre director presented the visitors with NOUN souvenir.
