Acting Director of the Nsu Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. John Onyemauche Oparaduru, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the Palace of the Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze Ernest Chukwubueze Iwunze, the Ebichi 2 of Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State.
Oparaduru, who was accompanied by his centre's staff, said the visit was to familiarise and sensitise the host community with the operations of the university.
HRH Iwunze, in his response, commended the centre's visit and assured them of their safety in his domain.
The Palace Secretary, Chief B. C Agaecheta, the Chieze 1 of Umukwuoma village, while speaking, assured them of the community's support and sustenance of the aims and objectives of establishing the centre.
He also urged them to remember the indigenes of the community when the opportunity for job employment calls.
The secretary promised to take the message to the people of Ezeoke, Umuduru, Umuopara and Umuchimeze Nsu that made up of Nsu Autonomous Community about the academic programmes that NOUN is providing.
Chief Agaecheta also thanked the university management for appointing their own son of the soil as the acting director of the centre.
The centre then moved its familiarisation and advocacy campaign on Thursday, April 4, 2024, to the Palace of HRH Eze Emmanuel Nzeadibenma, the Ezeala Ibechi of Umuakagu Autonomous Community in the state.
At the palace, the team was received by HRH Nzeadibenma who promised to give them a calm atmosphere to operate, adding that the centre has come to stay within the clan.
He pledged his commitment of ensuring that his people who are craving for higher education certificates would enrol at the centre
