Lagos Study Centre organises training for Desk Officers

In a move aimed at enlightening and exposing staff on harmonious working relationship conducive for both staff and students in their day-to-day academic activities, the Management of Lagos Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has organised a 1-day in-house training for the Desk Officers of the centre.

While declaring the exercise open, the Director of the centre, Prof. Alero Akujobi, said such practices lead to effective communication, exchange of ideas, information dissemination between the persons in work place, which can be build up to a positive attitude amongst and a good working relationship with students.

She said "Good relationship among staff is a process that needs genuine efforts, time consuming. It also involves empathy which is based on trust, communication, feedback, and exchange of ideas."

Also speaking, the centre's Principal Assistant Registrar (PAR) for the Faculty of Education, Mrs. Ejiro Ojo, who spoke on the topic titled: "Staff-Student Relationship" described the study centre as a bridge between students and the university.

She added that staff members should identify their students as clients taking responsibility in rendering adequate aids, growth and development, and giving seamless study to their students throughout their stint with the university.

The centre's Chief Counsellor, Mrs.Veronica - Aka-nwachukwu, described stress as a natural reaction happening to individuals. 

She therefore urged staff to manage family and work stress and take appropriate measures when undergoing such situation as everyday activities can lead to stress.
