The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has said the African Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) should strive to be known as the number one provider of quality technological education and solutions in Africa.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Technology, Innovation and Research, Prof. Monioluwa Olaniyi, stated this at the 3rd sectoral board meeting of ACETEL, which was held on November 9, 2022 at the university’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

According to Peters, one of the aims of the partnership with ACETEL and its partners was to enhance visibility for both parties as an education provider and an industry to propel everyone globally.

He mentioned that ACETEL was getting good support from its partners and had given its students the chance to intern at some of the partner organizations, giving them a broader platform.

"ACETEL’s partnerships have been an added advantage to the program, from helping to find solutions to national and global challenges, to making the program's curriculum more robust," he added.

Earlier in her welcome address, center director, ACETEL, Prof. Grace Jokthan thanked the sectoral members for their support, which has helped ACETEL with a robust engagement in both research and budget supervision.

Jokthan noted that ACETEL has over 200 students that are running programs, which include over 5 countries within the west African region.

"We are glad that you have been with us thus far, and you will be with us till the end of the project and continue with us as we seek to establish the sustainability of the project going forward," she told the sectoral board.
