The Coordinator, North-east Incubation Centre ll, Bogoro, Prof. Madugu Simon Yalams, has disclosed that the centre is heavily focusing on research that will strategically place it on the map as the Acha processing model center within the country.
Yalams, who stated this in a chat with NOUN News in Bogoro, Bauchi State, explained that the incubation centre has chosen to undergo research on Acha because Bogoro is a predominantly farming community and farms a lot of it.
He said being one of the known medicinal crops for diabetic patients, cereal for children and even adults, the centre was lucky to have acquired two major Acha processing machines, which will soon be installed and start processing with the aim of adding value and making it more useful to Nigerians.
While highlighting on the achievements of the centre, Yalams said "besides what the students would come up with as their business ideas, some are into medicinal tea, tailoring, some of them are making coils for motorcycles.
"In fact, during the last virtual exhibition week, one of our incubetees turned out to be the second overall best. He is working on coiling machine that provides means of making ignition for motorcycles and he made a lot of money out of it. So his project turn up to be second best all over the National Open University of Nigeria through out the virtual exhibition week."
The coordinator, who doubles as the Director, Bogoro Study Centre, said since his assumption of duty, the centre has recorded tremendous development and changes in so many aspects.

"And within the span, we had incubation centre complex fully equipped with furniture, computers and any other things you can think of which I advocated to the university management as the second incubation in the Northeast," he added.
He said the centre has also witnessed expansion in terms of facilities and has recently got support from one of the stakeholders, who is presently converting one of the residential flats into a full-pledged guest house of high standard.
Yalams disclosed that the centre has greatly witnessed increase in the number of students compared to when he first came, stressing that Bogoro centre is presently on advocacy drive, reaching out to different places in Bauchi and Plateau States to woo students.
