Abeokuta Centre visits Obasanjo, tables need for more centres

The Management of Abeokuta Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by  the centre director, Dr. Oyekunle Adegboyega on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 paid a courtesy visit to the former President of Nigeria, Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo in his office.

The visiting team, which comprised of some staff of the centre exchanged pleasantries with Obasanjo, showing their gratitude, as they reminisced the unwavering supports the ex president has rendered towards the university particularly in Abeokuta Centre. 

During his discussion, the director noted some needs at the centre in which he solicited for an assistance in its beautification.

He also discussed the need to increase more study centres in Ogun State and proposed some new centres in Ifo, Sagamu and Sango-Ota, saying that "this will bring education closer to the residents of Ogun State.

In his response, Chief Obasanjo recommended a self-help method as the best option.

He informed that the late Chief Delana's property in Ifo could be a potential site and advised the team to meet with the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and also the Royal Monarch, the Alake of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

Obasanjo equally promised to support the tabled goal by the centre as well as others.
