The Badagary Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), is a beehive of activities for new students' registration and enrolment, the director, Dr.Julius Paul Eyanuku, has said.
Eyanuku, in an interview with the NOUN News correspondent in his office, attributed the surge in students to the recent Federal Ministry of Education’s directive on the suspension of universities accreditation from Benin Republic.
He said the centre is doing well in assisting the new students and others from far and surrounding areas to navigate over their admission processes.
The director added that the young centre, which started operations in January 2023, has made an inroad academically by successfully conducting the 2023_1 and 2023_2 Pen-on-Paper (POP) and e-Examinations.
He said Badagary centre has also not rested on its oars in boosting its student population, which is steadily on the increase through its massive advocacy campaigns.
The centre's student population strength, according to him, currently stands at over 500 with a target of working assiduously towards hitting a population strength of 1,500 by the end of the 2024 examinations.
"The drum of ‘catch them young' advocacy initiative by the Vice Chancellor, is already beating," he said.
