The Directorate of Academic Planning (DAP), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), on Saturday, June 4, 2022, led a high-powered team of the directorate and that of the Directorate of Learner Support Services (DLSS) to assess the preparedness of the Port Harcourt Study Centre of the university to receive an accreditation team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for a formal accreditation of some programmes at the centre.
Professor Godwin Iornenge Akper, Director, Academic Planning, National Open University of Nigeria, who led the delegation, explained that his team was at Port Harcourt Study Centre to ensure that everything was put in place in readiness for the visit of the NUC team for the accreditation of programmes at the centre.
The director, Port Harcourt Study Centre, Dr. Nnenna Nancy Chukwuma, expressed delight at the visit of the DAP Team, describing the visit as timely as she hoped that the guidance given to the centre by the team would enable management of the centre to cross all T’s and dot all I’s in preparation for the expected accreditation exercise.
During the visit, the DAP Team inspected all academic and administrative records of the centre. Information and Communication Technology (ICT), libraries, store and toilet facilities were inspected. Also inspected were electrical installations, fire-fighting equipment as well as counseling and facilitation infrastructure.
