The Director of the Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base, Kaduna, Dr. Madu Baba Galadima, has visited the NAF Commandant, 453 Service Group, Air Commodore M. A. Garba for familiarisation and introduction.

Galadima’s visit, recently appointed as the director to replace Prof. Nda E. Mundi, was his first port-of-call since assumption of duty.

He said the purpose of the visit was to make a formal introduction and familiarise himself with the immediate stakeholders so as to build on the existing cooperation and discover other new areas that will enhance and develop supports between NOUN and the NAF.

The director said after critical observations, he discovered some challenges that need urgent attention, among which are the source of power of the centre connected to the Mammy Market.

Galadima said the connection from the present source is not suitable for powering the centre, its equipment and other office machines.

He, therefore, appealed to the commandant for his intervention in order to have an alternative source of power if possible directly from the base.

The director said the centre gets its power through the Mammy Market, which is located outside, saying that the activities of fabricators and other commercial activities significantly affect the power voltage, thereby having an adverse effect on the centre's system and other electronic machines.

This, according to him, has forced the centre to resort to the use of power stabilisers and suspended the usage of some other electrical appliances to avoid damage.

Consequently, the director appealed for the intervention of the commandant to order and permit the centre to connect its source of power from the base since it has its Prepaid Metre.

He also used the visit to remind the commandant of the existing request at the NAF Headquarters for the issue of office accommodation, which the centre has been soliciting.

The commandant, Air Commodore M. A. Garba, while responding, said the visit was for the spirit of collaboration, which the two organisations have craved for as stakeholders in education. .

Garba said that connecting the centre with the base’s power source would have been the best option and directed the authority concerned to see into the possibility of connecting the centre's power from the base since it has an existing Prepaid Metre.

As requested by the centre director, the commandant also promised to visit the centre for sight-seeing, assuring his continuing cooperation and support to the NAF Study Centre.

Galadima, who presented NOUN souvenir to the commandant and other senior officers, was accompanied by the Head of Administration of the centre, Mrs. Jagila Bitiyong, Head of Account, Mr. Ezra Auta and the Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Bashir Imam.
