The Head, North-west Regional Library of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Mrs. Hassana Ibrahim in Kaduna has described as a digital haven the Kaduna regional e-library where knowledge meets technology and the world of books unfolds at one’s fingertips.

Ibrahim, in a discussion with the NOUN News correspondent, stated that library was established to carter for the needs of students and staff of the university for learning and research purposes.

She added that it was designed in such a way that it provides a conducive atmosphere and equipped with modern and sophisticated information and communication technology gadgets.

The librarian disclosed that in this virtual space, NOUN e-library has embarked on a journey to bring a wealth of information, stories and learning experience to the vibrant communities of Kaduna, northwest and Nigeria at large.

She advised that one can step into the world of knowledge with the NOUN digital e-library where every click opens a door to a new possibility and where reading and learning knows no bound.

Moreover, the e-library is a future where information is accessible to all and also a passport for enriching and enlightening academic adventure, she said.

Ibrahim explained that the e-library is not only a repository of books but also a dynamic hope for exploration, learning and community engagements.

"The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, who has been a friend of the library through his interventions has made all these feasible.

"The Vice-Chancellor has invested heavily to ensure that the library is well equipped and enriched with modern facilities like computers and database such as Agora, Research 4 Life, Science Direct, Scopus, J-Store and a host of others," she said.

The regional library, according to her, has continued to receive effective and efficient supervision from the University Librarian, who has ensured all requests were provided for effective functioning, efficient utilisation and services.

She said the digital library has received an accolade and recommendation from the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) accreditation team, during the recent routine exercise in Kaduna for being organised and well equipped with updated resources.

Speaking on the challenges, she lamented on the epileptic power supply by the distribution company serving the area and below-capacity internet facility.

Ibrahim, therefore, requested the university management to supply a mega internet facility to the library.
