NOUN present as Late Awa is laid to rest

The body of Late Dr. Kalu Idika Awa (NNA), has been laid to rest at his home town, Ndi Awa Uma Ukwu Compound, Asaga in Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State.

The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Wilfred Ugwuanyi.

Until his demise on December 26, 2022, Late Awa was on contract appointment and examination officer, Faculty of Management Sciences, NOUN.

His social life earned him a life trustee of Asaga Development Union and a traditional title holder as Ezhie Agba of Ndi Awa Uma Ukwu Compound.

Rev.Innocent Agwu, in his message taken from Ecclesiastics 3: 1- 10 & II Corinthians 5: 1-10, with the topic " When a saint is struck down on earth the Heaven get a Citizen," said that the body can be destroyed by death at any time and when a saint is dead, he/she becomes a citizen of heaven.

"This world is to rough to finish suffering on earth and move to the great beyond to continue in the suffering without Jesus Christ in your life. As the life God has given you remains, use it to serve God because death can struck at any time," Rev. Agwu stated.

However, testimonies about him indicated that he was a quintessential leader, an erudite scholar, a dogged community builder, a dutiful teacher, a devoted Christian, among others.

High calibre of personalities present to accord him a befitting burial included the Eze Ogo of Asaga Ohafia Community, Elder Dr. Emmaunel Kalu Onu, Prof. Nnadi Chris, Associate Prof. Most Rev. Miracle  Ajah, Dr Mrs Patience Okoronkwo, Dr. Nkata U. Kalu, Dr. Oforbuike Nwachukwu.

Others were Dr. Sunny Ihiabe, Dr. James Tyohen, Dr. John Ifegwu, Mr. Emmaunel Onoh, Mr. Harrison Emaiukwu.
