The Coordinator, South-east Incubation Centre of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship and General Studies(DE$GS), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Loveth O. Ekwueme, has said the sensitisation exercise on GST 302 (Business Creation and Growth) carried out by the centre was aimed at exposing students on how to acquire the necessary basic entrepreneurial skills.
Such skills, Ekwueme explained, would make them to be creative and innovative in exploring every opportunity in their environment.
She stated this on Friday, September 22, 2023, while declaring open the 2023_2 sensitisation exercise on GST 302 in the South-east Incubation Zone in Enugu, Enugu State.
Ekwueme added that the exercise would prepare students for post university life through inculcating entrepreneurial skills as well as making them to create wealth, which ultimately culminate in becoming employers of labours.
The coordinator underscored the importance of students to synchronise their business plan proposals with some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
The Associate Professor of Library and Information Science reiterated that students are equally expected to harmonise their business plan proposals with the directorate's thematic areas of focus, which include Agripreneur, Biotechnology, Green education, Information and Communication Technology and Integrated, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
She said the development of business plan proposals can be in groups of each not more than five students, stressing that awarding of scores would be based on individual intellectual prowess during presentation.
The exercise, according to Ekwueme, was held both physically and virtually, even as it ended with questions and answers.
