The management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has approved the appointment of Mr.Yusuf Abdullahi as the director of Kaduna Study Centre.

Abdullahi, who has since assumed office, took over the centre from Dr. Aminu Umar, who was posted to the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD) as the director.

His appointment was contained in a letter dated January 11 2022, which was signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji on behalf of the registrar.

The letter stated that the Vice-Chancellor has approved the posting of Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi to Kaduna Study Centre as Acting Director with effect from Wednesday 19th January 2022.

It conveyed that as the Acting Director of the study centre, Abdullahi is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Director, Learners Support Services for the day-to-day administration of the study centre.

Additionally, the letter noted that “this is a compassionate acting appointment and can be changed whenever the management considers it appropriate.”

In a chat with NOUN News, Abdullahi, promised to continue from where he stopped at Gusau Study Centre where he was a director and specifically underscored the importance of a rigorous advocacy campaign.

The director said the main target of the university should be the secondary school final year students who would be on the verge of finishing the school and about getting into the university.

"I saw a lot of improvements when I got to Gusau centre in 2018 the enrollment rate per semester was 20 to 25," said Abdullahi.

He maintained that his aggressive advocacy that targeted final year secondary schools at Gusau jerked up the enrolment level to hundred.

"That was an indication that I was doing the right thing. So I intend to build on that legacy in Kaduna," he said.

Speaking on the administration of the centre, he promised to ensure that each and every staff of the centre will be saddled with certain responsibility.

He, therefore, thanked the University Management for trusting him, once again, and saddled with the responsibility of steering the affairs of one of the biggest centres in the country.
