Acting Director, Fagge Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Kano State, Mr. Ibrahim Shehu, has stated that the centre is targetting students enrollment of 3,000 by the end of the present academic semester.

The figure, according to him, will represent an increase of about 1,000 active students presently in the young centre, established three years ago.

Shehu, during an interaction with the NOUN News correspondent, added that it is an undisputable fact that the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is ever expanding in terms of reach and quality of service delivery.

The Acting Director maintained that it is also unarguable that the Fagge Community Centre stands tall amongst its contemporaries in terms of students’ enrollment and quality of service delivery.

He said the centre, shortly after it was commissioned, attained the status of first generation study centre in terms of students’ enrollment.

"The uniqueness of the centre coupled with its favourable but strategical location and the commitment shown by the present leadership in setting achievable targets as key priority of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, it has become feasible and strength for the centre to grow rapidly and compete with its sister centres.

"Students of the centre were drawn from within Kano metropolis and beyond. In a nutshell, the centre attracts most local residents willing to enroll in NOUN," Shehu said.

He argued that these advantages resulted in the outstanding performance which the university management recognises and rewarded accordingly by making it a stand-alone study centre - no longer under the watchful eyes of an overseer.

Speaking on the centre's enrollment strength, he spelled out that it is encouraging and it is currently increasing by the day in geometric progression.

On the centre's efforts to capitalize more on improving the enrollment of students, he stated that robust and aggressive advocacy campaign will be deployed, coupled with improving effective and efficient service delivery by the management and staff at the centre

He attested to the effort of his predecessor, saying that "he had tried in many spheres. The current Director of Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centre, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Alhassan, oversaw the affairs of the centre right from its establishment in 2021 to early 2024.,"

He further acknowledged that Alhassan worked hand-in-hand with the Centre Representative. Mr. Ameer Salisu Hamza. “The duo really tried in making the centre what it is today."

The Acting Director stated that his mission is to leave an indelible mark at the Fagge Community Study Centre being its pioneer director as a full-pledged centre, to stand tall amongst study centres.

He thanked the university management and other stakeholders in Fagge Community particularly the Honourable Aminu Suleiman Goro for the support being given to the centre without which the achievements recorded wouldn't have been possible.
