The National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA), South-west branch has paid a working visit to the Abeokuta Centre Director Dr.Oyekunle Adegboyega in his office recently.
Similarly, the association in the North-east also visited the Gombe Study Centre to acquaint themselves with the centre, appraise their concerns and challenges.
During the visit to Abeokuta, the National President of the alumni, represented by the Vice-President, Mrs. Sarah Sobowale and other executive members, noted that the visit was for familiarisation reasons.
Sobowale, while delivering the president's speech, stated that the visit by the alumni was aimed at giving back to the institution.
She urged the alumni members and the university students to become more active and fully participate in all the university activities and be good representatives of the institution.
In his address, Adegboyega briefly outlined the purpose of the visit to the audience, which emphasised the importance of alumni membership and encouraged the alumni executives to contribute to the centre by aspiring to elevate it to be the best among others.
The director also stated the needs of the centre and highlighted the its desire to have a sickbay, a standard store, and a befitting counselling office.
Among the exco members were Iyabode A.Oniye, Chairman Ogun State Chapter, Temitope Opaleye, Pioneer vice Chairman, Ogun State Chapter, Kazeem Hamzat, Treasurer, and Samod Maboreje, Welfare Oofficer.
On the other hand, executives of the association, North-east branch, have paid a similar visit to the management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Gombe Study Centre.
The visiting team was received by the study centre director, Dr. Adamu Bappah and his management team.
NOUNAA Vice President, Mr. Bulum Abana Maina, who led the team, said the series of visits the union is embarking to the various study centres within the region was aimed at acquainting themselves with the centres, appraise their concerns and challenges.
Maina reassured the centre of the association's commitment and promised to take note of the various needs pointed out.
On his part, the Centre Director, Dr. Adamu Bappah, commended NOUNAA’s commitment towards projecting a positive image of NOUN and their determination to see that the association takes interest in the affairs of the centre.
Bappah urged them to continue with the good work and endeavour to provide the centre with some basic equipments like industrial waste bin, among others.
The visiting entourage comprised of Ibrahim Audu, Chairman, Gombe State Chapter; Mohammed Abdullahi, Provost, National Body; Sammy Habila Gonji, Secretary, Gombe State Chapter; Joshua Apuu, Treasurer, Gombe State Chapter; Ambrose Haruna Falke, and Emmanuel Kabi Sele Kukoh, First VP North-east and former NEC member.
