The outgoing Director, Enugu Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Alexander Uche Onyia, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 formally handed over the leadership of affairs at the centre to his successor, Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo.

Okonkwo, a Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation, was the immediate-past Director of Uyo Study Centre in Akwo-Ibom State.

Prior to the handing over ceremony, Okonkwo was taken round the centre by her predecessor for familiarisation of facilities and structures as well as to inspect the various units at the centre.

Onyia, while making his speech, said the centre staff have nurtured the character of being their brothers keepers and equally respect the authority.

"Whatever you think is good for the progress of the centre, just push it forward, the staff will cooperate and obey," Onyia said.

He admonished his successor not to water down her principles and to ensure that standards are maintained, even as the staff will never disappoint her.

Onyia then welcomed Okonkwo to the centre for an optimal and impactful stay.

In her reaction, Okonkwo commended her predecessor and the staff for a warm welcome given to her, adding that the service is to God and humanity.

"The centre is higher than what I used to know of it in the past. I have come and seen the centre and promised not to lower the standards set up by my predecessor," she said.

The new director coveted earnestly for the maximum cooperation of the staff in order to move the centre forward.
