NOUN to commence mandatory monthly training for Assistant Registrars, others

As part of its effort in equipping staff to curb poor performances in the subsequent promotion examinations, the Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters has approved the commencement of a monthly virtual training for registry staff from the cadre of Assistant Registrar (AR) and above.

This is contained in a memo dated March 13th, 2023 and signed by the Director, Staff Training and Development (ST&D), Mrs. Magaret I. Boro, on behalf of the registrar.

The memo, titled Invitation to Mandatory Monthly Virtual Training for Registry Staff (Assistant Registry and above),”said“The training is aimed at addressing the poor performance of these category of staff in the 2022 promotion exercise.

They will be run through topics like: the university registry, know your university; staff professional ethics; minutes; memo and report writing; staff training and development; communication and communication skills.

Other topics to be treated by selected professionals are: emotional intelligence in the workplace, staff discipline, appointments and promotions as well as leave and exit.

Key personalities/professionals billed to lecture are: Prof. Monioluwa Olaniyi (DVC TIR), Mr. Oladipo Ajayi (Registrar), Mrs. Omorogieva Ileka (Director, Advancement and Linkages), Mrs. Magaret Boro (Director, ST&D), Dr. Muyiwa Akintola (Ag. Director, Human Resources,), Dr. Theodore Iyere, Mrs. Eunice Riki (Director, SERVICOM), Mr. Bola Petu, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adeoye and Mrs. Wosilat Ainodion (Director, Council).

The mandatory virtual training, according to the memo, is scheduled for the last Thursday of every month beginning from March 30th, 2023, with a duration of one hour between 16.00hrs and 17.00hrs.

“The Directorate of Learning Content Management System (LCMS) will be the host of the training as link will be broadcast as at when due, as concerned staff are enjoined to avail themselves and take advantage of this opportunity advisedly, the memo stated.
